VCDP for VTX

The essence of VCDP’s purpose is to encourage the fullest possible participation of all Democratic voters. It is dedicated to disseminating the Democratic message, platform, and philosophy. A major source of VCDP’s grassroots organizing is through the service, encouragement, and facilitation of participation in community education and social events. VCDP provides a grassroots forum for the study and discussion of public policy issues and their impact at the local level.

VCDP in Action: Standing WITH Our Community, FOR Our Community

At the Victoria County Democratic Party (VCDP), we believe that showing up matters.

Our work doesn’t just happen at election time—it’s year-round, on the ground, and deeply rooted in the issues and values that matter to the people of Victoria County.

From honoring history to celebrating identity and defending our rights, we’re proud to be active and visible in our community.

Honoring Freedom at Juneteenth

We were privileged to host a booth at Victoria’s Juneteenth celebration—a powerful day of remembrance and joy.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day Union troops arrived in Galveston to announce the end of slavery—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day that underscores the resilience of the Black community and the ongoing work for justice and equity.

The local Juneteenth event brought together families, neighbors, and advocates for a celebration filled with culture, music, and purpose. Proceeds from the day went to support the Carver Center Foundation of Victoria, helping continue the work of community empowerment. We were proud to be a part of it.

Celebrating Love and Inclusion at Pride Victoria

Our team also showed up strong for Pride Victoria, where joy, inclusion, and community took center stage.

Pride is more than a celebration—it's a declaration of belonging, and a chance to reaffirm that love is love, and everyone deserves a place where they feel seen and safe.

From rainbow flags to heartfelt conversations, it was an amazing day of connection.

We’re proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ community—not just in June, but always.

Standing Up Against Government Overreach

When community members gathered for the No Kings rally to speak out against government overreach, VCDP was there too. We believe in people-powered democracy, not top-down control. The rally gave space for folks to share how recent legislation and policies have impacted their lives—and to demand better. We were there to listen, to learn, and to raise our voices in solidarity.

Whether it’s celebrating freedom, standing up for inclusion, or fighting for fairness, VCDP is committed to representing the values of our community. We’re not just talking—we’re showing up.

And we’ll keep showing up.

Want to get involved? We’d love to have you. Let’s build something better, together.

-In Solidarity,
The VCDP Team
