At the Victoria County Democratic Party (VCDP), we believe in the power of people coming together. Progress doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens when neighbors roll up their sleeves, stand side by side, and work toward something bigger than themselves. That’s why our guiding theme this season is simple but powerful: “Many Hands Make Light Work.”

​Whether it’s strengthening our democracy through the ballot box or strengthening our community through service, VCDP is committed to representing the people in our area and the values we all share.

Your Vote is your Voice

Did you know that there is a Joint General Election happening this November, and there are 17 Constitutional Amendments on the ballot? Then the 2026 midterm elections will be here before we know it — and preparation begins now.

Democracy thrives when we don’t wait until the last minute but instead lay a strong foundation early. At VCDP, we’re working hard to do just that. You're going to see us:

• Hosting campaign meet & greets so voters can connect directly with candidates.
• Offering voter registrar training to empower more people to get their neighbors registered.
• Building community connections to keep folks informed and engaged.
• Sharing voting education resources so every eligible voter feels confident at the ballot box.

​Voting is not just a right — it’s a responsibility. By preparing early, we can ensure that every voice in Victoria County is heard --loud and clear-- when it matters most.

Community Service in Action:
​The Hunger Hero Challenge

Our commitment doesn’t stop at the polls. VCDP is also deeply rooted in serving our community’s most pressing needs. This month, we’ve joined forces with the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent in their Hunger Hero Challenge — a friendly but meaningful competition among local organizations and businesses. ​Groups across the region are working to fight hunger and uplift families. By joining this effort, VCDP is continuing to live out our values — proving that political work is also community work, and we are ready to deliver on our promises and participation!

Every bag of food, every dollar raised, and every hour volunteered adds up to make a real difference for our neighbors who need it most.

Many Hands, Many Ways to Help

The good news? There are so many ways you can be part of this movement.
When each of us does a little, together we accomplish a lot. That’s what “Many Hands Make Light Work” is all about.

Throughout the month of September, we're tackling the challenge in several ways:

• We're fundraising: a donation to the food bank goes much farther than for an average shopper.
  Just $1 donated helps the Food Bank provide 8 (EIGHT) meals!!!

• We're gathering: we've got two barrels out in the community for easy food donation drop off.
  You can find them with our big blue sign at Blume & Flour (downtown) or Mr. Gatti's (Laurent and Airline).
• We're volunteering: our team will be taking a food bank tour on September 15th, and everyone is invited to join and learn about the important work that the Food Bank does.
  There are also two big volunteer days on Saturday, September 13th and Saturday, September 27th from 8am-12pm. If those don't work within your schedule, anyone can volunteer time M-F, 8-12 or 1-4:30. 
  And remember, everyone who volunteers in connection to the VCDP will earn points for our team!
