VCDP for VTX

The essence of VCDP’s purpose is to encourage the fullest possible participation of all Democratic voters. It is dedicated to disseminating the Democratic message, platform, and philosophy. A major source of VCDP’s grassroots organizing is through the service, encouragement, and facilitation of participation in community education and social events. VCDP provides a grassroots forum for the study and discussion of public policy issues and their impact at the local level.

A Season of Momentum for VCDP

If it feels like things have been busy lately… it’s because they have been. But honestly? We’re grateful. Grateful for the work, the energy, and—most importantly—the people who continue to show up. More than ever, folks care deeply about who represents them at every level of government, from city seats to Congress. The era of assuming “politics will sort itself out” is fading, and a new era of everyday engagement is taking its place.

And that’s exactly where VCDP has been planting its time and energy.

October: A Month Packed With Action

October brought a full slate of activity, community, and collaboration.

• NO KINGS II Rally — Saying NO to Overreach
VCDP hosted our second NO KINGS rally, lifting a clear message: we refuse to accept government overreach. We’re incredibly proud of the hundreds who attended, raised their voices, and exercised their constitutional right to protest. Huge credit goes to our Activism Committee and every one of the speakers who helped make the event powerful and unifying.

• Supporting Our Neighbors: The Blue Wave Builds
We also joined efforts beyond our county lines—Rockport held a Community BBQ and Bay City hosted a candidate meet-and-greet. It’s inspiring to see momentum grow regionally, not just locally.

The Meat of the Matter: Voting & Elections

Now let’s talk about what all this momentum is building toward: elections.
 • November General Elections — A Stronger Turnout
The November 4th general elections saw real movement. VCDP held multiple voter registration events, and Victoria County turned out over 3,000 more voters compared to the spring elections this year. That increase isn’t just a number—it’s a sign that people are getting involved and paying attention.

• All eyes on 2026 — And There Is A Lot to Watch
The 2026 midterms will be one of the biggest cycles in recent memory, with many seats up for grabs. VCDP has already begun hosting meet-and-greets with several great Democratic candidates running for Lt. Governor, U.S. House, the Texas Supreme Court, and more. We even welcomed the Chair of the Texas Democratic Party.

As more candidates join the race, we continue to commit to helping bring them to Victoria, to meet our constituents, and to make sure Victorians are heard in what we need from our politicians.

• Filing Period Is OPEN — Until December 8th
Here’s the highlight: we are officially in the Candidate Filing Period. Several positions—from local precinct seats to federal offices—still need Democratic candidates.

Because here’s the truth: we can’t vote for someone who isn’t on the ballot.

Our goal is simple and ambitious: NO. SEAT. UNOPPOSED.

If you’ve ever thought about running, or you know someone who would be an incredible candidate, nominations are open. Visit bluetx.org/nominate to take the first step, or recommend someone who should.

Call to Action: Don’t Be a Bystander

There’s a well-known psychological concept called bystander syndrome—the idea that the more people who witness a problem, the less likely anyone is to take action. Everyone assumes someone else will step up.

But here’s the thing: change has never come from the assumption that “someone else” will take care of it.

It comes from people like you choosing, in small and big ways, to do something—to show up at a meeting, register a voter, share information, volunteer, donate, or yes… even run for office.

Every action matters.
Every voice counts.
Every step forward builds the future we deserve.

So as we head into this next chapter, remember:
Don’t wait. Don’t assume. Don’t stand by.
Do something. And together, we’ll create the change our community is asking for.

-In Solidarity,
The VCDP Team
